If Lennie was by himself and without george while being in the great depression, he would definitely not survive. An example is his forgetfulness .When Lennie forgot where he put his work card he was horrified. Of course george held it for him, but if he was on his own he would have to carry it and probably lose it. This would cause him to lose his job and probably starve to death because he would have no income. Not only is he forgetful; he also lacks intelligence .For instance Lennie sees a girl with a beautiful flower dress, he goes up and grabs her. To the other workers it looks like Lennie is abusing her when actually he just wants to feel her dress. The workers chased after him but george led them to an escape. Without george Lennie would have got caught and sent to jail. Lennie is a very lucky person to have george look after him because without george he would not survive.

CANDY ANALYSIS

Candy the old swamper, in mice in men, is a fascinating character. He is very caring, kind despite having a tough life. An example of his caring of him taking care of his old sheep dog. The dog has been deemed useless by almost everyone on the farm because it cant eat, and is basically blind. However, Candy does not view his dog as a working dog, but more of a companion and that he should care for him. He is also very kind. For example when George and Lenny reach the farm he is the only person to greet them. Also he helps George with his feelings about Lenny as he knows what it is like to care for a being that is not up to standards(  his dog). Candy is a a great character in the book with his traits of kindness and jis ability to care and show sympathy.
